When it comes to vulnerability there are a lot of mixed messages in our culture. This is especially true when comes to masculinity and men. The idea that men don’t long for connection AND find it though emotional expression and shared vulnerability is entirely false. The belief that strength and emotion can be expressed at the same time is not a message that is often associated with masculine ideals.
These myths and double standards of vulnerability keep a majority of men isolated and thinking that they are the exception to the norm, when in fact, they are not.
So why a group specifically for men, because these myths are powerful and because of that fact it is crucial to create a space with other men who are already doing the work, sharing their own experiences and joining together to build deeper connection with each other in a culture that makes them the outlier and not the norm.

There can be no vulnerability without risk; there can be no community without vulnerability; there can be no peace, and ultimately no life, without community.
